About
The founder and owner of Vinotations is Caroline Abbott, a naturally curious, wine-loving person who travels the world finding people, places, and wines that inspire her.
She spent most of her young life in Madrid, in an American family, gaining friends and experiences that connected her deeply to Spain. Growing up in a bilingual environment sparked her curiosity towards languages and cultures, while her work experience, travels, and studies around the world cemented her professional skills.
After a handful of years in a wide range of hospitality and brand ambassador roles, she went on to a Market Manager position at Inspired Beverage in Boston. There, she helped rapidly expand the company while acquiring the Certified Specialist of Wine and Certified Specialist of Spirits certificates.
Upon commencing a sabbatical travel year and getting her hands dirty as a winemaker’s apprentice in Hungary, Caroline found herself living in Melbourne, Australia. She achieved the WSET 3 Award in Wines during a stint as a Junior Sommelier at the renowned Bellota Wine Bar, where she discovered and went on to work for the top Spanish and Portuguese wine importer, The Spanish Acquisition.
While there, Caroline identified a unique opportunity to bridge the language gap, founding Vinotations upon returning to Madrid in 2019.
Since then, she gained experience in e-commerce while managing the Marketplace at Vivino Spain and Portugal before going on to consult as Commercial Director with the Argentinian wine family Michelini i Mufatto. Currently, she is a WSET 4 Diploma student while consulting for wineries.
Passions and experience collided, laying the foundations for a company to assist Spanish wineries to develop their brand in order to share their craft with the rest of the world.
